Our Targets

  • The target of the English Language is for learners to develop an ever-improving
    capability to use English

    • to think and communicate
    • to acquire, develop and apply knowledge
    • to respond and give expression to experience
    • and within these contexts, to develop and apply an ever-improving
      understanding of how language is organized, used and learned.

Features

Our aims are to develop students’ reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and to
build up their confidence in communicating in English:

  • Primary Literacy Programme - Reading and Writing for Primary 1 and 2
  • School-based Guided Reading Programme for Primary 3, 4 and 5 in which students
    are grouped according to their reading ability
  • Reading Together Programme for Primary 6
  • Full-time NET speaking programme subsidized by The Elder Kwan Siu Yee
    Educational Fund
  • Quality Education Fund Thematic Network (QTN) on English Language (Primary)
    Project Writing for P.4
  • Fun English activities such as English Fun Days, English cafe, English Corner,
    English Channel and Tongue Twister Competition to create an English-rich
    environment for students.

Our Major Concern

  • To facilitate the development of a ‘learning to read’ and ‘reading to learn’ culture by
    helping students acquire effective reading skills in reading workshops and reviewing
    school-based reading curriculum.
  • To improve students’ proficiency in writing by enhancing our school-based writing
    programme.
  • To allow more exposure to English for students as well as build up their confidence
    of the use of English by creating a language-rich environment for learning English
    and diversified English learning experiences.
  • To cater for learner diversity by adopting effective differentiated learning and
    teaching strategies.
  • To strengthen students’ speaking skills by providing more opportunities for them to
    practise reading aloud and using English.
